What is a Registered Office?

All companies must have a registered office, which must be a situated at a physical location in their country of registration. For example, if the company is registered in Northern Ireland, the registered office must be in Northern Ireland.

It can be your business address, the address of your accountant or any other address you choose. However, it must be an address at which you will be able to deal with all official letters and notices that you receive.

If you opt to use your own residential address as the registered office for your company, your home address will not be confidential and it will be publically recorded by Companies House. This information will be made available to various customers, suppliers and other individuals external to the business.

If you do not wish to use your home address or if you are a Non-UK citizen who does not have a UK address, The Company Shop can provide an address in Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland or England. We can also provide your service address which means your personal residential address will not be made public record.

How can you change your registered office address?

This can be changed at any time by a Director of the company. They must complete a AD01 form and this must be filed at Companies House. The change becomes effective only when this form is filed at Companies House.
