What you need to know
Companies House identity verification is now a legal requirement. For a new company, the personal code for each proposed director is needed as part of the incorporation filing. Existing directors and people with significant control (PSCs) also have requirements to connect their verified identity to Companies House records.
You do not have to use an ACSP. Companies House also provides a free direct verification route through GOV.UK One Login. Our ACSP service is for people who prefer guided handling, including remote support or an appointment at our Belfast office.
Companies House sends your personal code to the email address used for the verification. The code belongs to you, not to a particular company, and is used when you need to confirm your verified identity for relevant company roles and filings.
